What is a Portable Exhaust Extraction unit?These are units with electric fans and hoses; they are used in automotive workshops to enable exhaust gases to be ventilated outside while an internal combustion engine is being run in an enclosed space.

Why are they necessary?Internal combustion engines emit harmful gases in their exhaust; these gases can be very detrimental to a person's health and even kill. It is a legal requirement that employers must provide a safe working environment for their staff this includes clean, safe air to breathe.

Are there different types of units?The Clean Air Company will offer 3 different units they are suitable for Motorbikes, Cars (including dual tailpipe vehicles) and trucks, they come with a range of optional hoses and attachments to suit different vehicles.

What other options are there to vent dangerous exhaust gasses from an enclosed space?One option is installing a comprehensive permanent in built extraction system; the other is to simply ensure you are in a well ventilated area by for example opening doors at either end of the workshop. It must be stressed that it is very dangerous to have a vehicle running in an unventilated area.
